When this began, if there was a certain beginning, this has since always been: the total conformity of a woman's Look. This film proves to poke more humorous holes into this theory - of having to live up to the bar constantly raising and petty ideals with Anne Hathaway (Andy Sachs) who now works for the Editor-in-Chief, Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep), of 'Runway' Magazine. She is the new second assistant to Miranda with the first assistant being Emily (Emily Blunt). Andy is responsible for running an important portion of the office and looking the part of the Gold Standard of upscale fashion. Miranda Priestly is regarded as modern-day Royalty in the Industry and the office staff is in obvious fear of her disapproval of which Miranda revels in this role. Meryl Streep totally takes hold of Miranda's personality with obvious self-righteousness over anything in her path, family and all. Her portrayal is a delight to behold. Things progress in the office from Andy's introduction in dowdy plaid skirts with mismatched lumpy sweaters to the latest in Prada, Chanel and Hermes - thanks to the essential influence of the overseeing stylist of the office, Nigel (Stanley Tucci).

Costruito alla maniera di un racconto di formazione corale, racchiuso nell'arco di una giornata, Come non detto ha una narrazione intimista che sposa bene la difficoltà a ricomporre il modo in cui guardiamo a noi stessi con il riflesso che produciamo nell'occhio dell'altro, come suggerisce l'incipit allo specchio davanti al quale indugia il Mattia garbato di Josafat Vagni. Il suo personaggio è innamorato di una vita che non riesce a vivere 'apertamente', per l'intransigenza del sistema sociale, incarnato nel film dai genitori, o più probabilmente per la paura di affermare (e afferrare) la piena bellezza del suo essere. Per questa ragione, l'incapacità di trattenere un rapporto autentico col mondo, Mattia (ri)vive nei frequenti flashback, in un passato di occasioni perse per dirsi veramente, perseverando nella passività, nella bulimia d'immaginario e nel vuoto di identità che essa produce. Ma nell'idea scritta da Roberto Proia, di cui Silvestrini è intelligente traduttore attraverso una regia discreta e (in)visibile, il dramma esistenziale prodotto da una menzogna diventa una commedia al termine della quale ciascun personaggio affronterà e dichiarerà se stesso, scoprendo che lo sguardo dell'altro non deve essere per forza coercitivo ma può rivelarsi complice e addirittura sostenitore.

Durant la Guerre froide, un événement mystérieux a divisé la réalité en deux. Deux mondes parallèles, deux populations dupliquées. Mais là aussi, les différences dans un cadre symétrique font le sel de l'intrigue.
